This blog will have reduced functionality from Friday 24 June 23:00 h UTC to Sunday 26 June 23:00 h UTC due to a scheduled power outage. Two of our name servers and the server with data, applications, and media will receive an UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). Only the name server in Europe and text will function normally, as well as the media hosted on external servers.
In my 16th of May post on Your Portrait, I mentioned HP's stringent privacy rules. Now that we are on a commercial platform, we can be stricter about privacy.
As you may have noticed, you can now comment anonymously, i.e., without HP Passport. We will now be strict about rejecting any comment with personally identifiable information (PII). When you submit your comments without personal contact details, we will be happy to publish them; if you miss your comment, resubmit it without PII, as we have no way to get back to you. Also, if you log in using HP Passport, make sure your user ID is not your email address (instructions on how to change your user ID are on the login page). Thanks!
Of course, comments with other's PII, especially when defamatory or character assassinations, violate the HP Standards of Business Conduct and are also rejected, as explained in the post on Snakes in Suits.
We wanted to let you know that HP blogs will be migrating to a new platform over the next week. As of Friday, May 23, we won't be posting to our blog and won't be able to receive any comments submitted. Please hold your comments until June 1 when our new site will be live.
In case I suddenly disappear, good bye. As you have noticed, our blog system was running only halfway for a while. Our access system, which hides your identity from my curious eyes, was upgraded into a form that was incompatible with our blog editing and commenting software. Therefore, we could not access it ourselves.
Because the blog system has been sunsetted by IT, next time there is a glitch we may not be back, so I am saying good bye now and thank you for reading this blog, and last but not least, thank you for your many comments, which were my guide and inspiration for subsequent posts.
