Five EI leaders elected to SPIE Fellows

Although all domains covered by SPIE are mostly digitized and heavily rely on electronic imaging, only a handful of SPIE members active in electronic imaging had been honored as Fellows.

This has just changed. At the Fellows luncheon in occasion of Photonics West in San Jose, the SPIE announced that 5 leaders who have been very engaged in organizing the IS&T/SPIE Annual Symposia on Electronic Imaging Science and Technology will be honored as new Fellows of the Society this year. They are:

Jan P. Allebach
Purdue University, USA, for specific achievements in electronic imaging
Jaakko T. Astola
Tampere University of Technology, Finland, for specific achievements in electronic imaging and image processing
Chang Wen Chen
Florida Institute of Technology, USA, for specific achievements in electronic imaging and visual communications
Gabriel G. Marcu
Apple Computer Inc., USA, for specific achievements in electronic imaging
Thrasyvoulos N. Pappas
